Wood Furniture Vinaigrette

Winter weather can be very harsh. Let’s leave the cold outside of the house and consider the climate indoors. The warmth may be cozy but the forced air heat can make for a very dry atmosphere.

Dry air can be rough on our skin. But it can be equally hard on our beautiful wood furnishings. Modern furniture is often well protected with sealants that block moisture. Antiques and furnishings that have more porous seals can benefit from a little moisturizer. Oiling is the age-old solution. Try out my Furniture Vinaigrette that you can make with things you find right in your pantry.

Wood Furniture Vinaigrette

  • 1/4 cup White distilled vinegar
  • 3/4 cup Olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Natural lemon oil

The shelf life is between six months and one year.

Mix the ingredients together in a bottle with a tight cap. Shake well before dispensing. Shake a small amount on to a clean, lint-free rag and apply to furniture. Rub with the grain until you’ve coated the surface well. Allow the vinaigrette to penetrate for 15 minutes or more, then buff with a fresh lint-free cloth.

Thanks for this recipe! I’ve got some antique wood furniture that could really use some care.

    Thanks again,

    Sarah

This was a handy advice, I will make sure that I try it out. I think that this is something that I think there are not many people aware of it.
